What is the parking lot?

The 'parking lot' is a term that we use to describe a topic that is brought up in a meeting which is not part of the standard agenda.  When running meetings in results it's best practice to include a parking lot agenda item in your meeting's so that there is a place for participants to capture their ideas, comments, questions, etc.  When you arrive to this agenda item you'll usually find that one of the following happens:

  • A larger discussion is required around the parking lot item raised and it warrants its own meeting or "offline" discussion.  A good place for asynchronous "offline" discussions would be Connect.  
  • A task gets assigned as an outcome to a parking lot item 
  • A decision is made
  • A question is answered
